Just general, cursory 2 stroke questions:
Let's say i have an leaf blower that i want to get running. It hasn't run for a while. And i don't know what's the mixture.
What do you suggest i do? It's a craftsman and i don't know who the engine manufacturer is because i didn't really get a close look yet. i can't find the owner's manual. |

Re: Just general, cursory 2 stroke questions:
is the mix ratio stamped on the gas cap?
too much oil is just as bad as too little oil. Oil is thiker than gas and the thick miture won't flow properly through the carbs jets and cause a lean condition. |

It wasn't on the cap---it was on the warning sticker i missed it last night. It's 40:1
So, i guess the best way to mix is to put one gallon in a container and then put in the right amount of oil? |

Re: Just general, cursory 2 stroke questions:
If it hasn't run in awhile and there was gas left in the carb it will take a little work. Pull the carb off and take it apart. You will need some carb cleaner and air to blow out the jets and all the inlets. After this is done replace fuel with new properly mixed fuel. Replace air filter and spark plug. After this it should run fine but make sure the carb is cleaned because I can almost promise you it is gummed up.

Re: Just general, cursory 2 stroke questions:
Yes, it certainly does need work---it looks like the fuel line going to the carb is broken.
This blower has not been run in at least 5 years. i found it in my parents' garage. i'm strongly thinking about starting up a side lawnmowing business---just on weekends for extra cash. And that's why i'm trying to get this thing running. |

Re: Just general, cursory 2 stroke questions:
If it has set that long it would be a waste of time cleaning the carb without installing a rebuild kit, The old diaphragms have to be hard and non-usable.....
