alternator brackets?

I am converting my 61 GMC with the 305 to an alternator. Does anyone know which brackets to get for this. I can find lots of different brackets but just not sure which ones work for my motor. I am going with the 12 SI delco if that matters.
I am trying to get the wiring harness from Mad electrical but he is hard to get a hold of and he dosent have online ordering.
Is there anything else that I will need?
Oh and what belt will i need or will the old one work?
Thank you

Re: alternator brackets?

I am not sure about the belt or wiring but I know those alternator brackets are rather difficult to find. You can ask on Jolly's site if anyone is selling them there.

Re: alternator brackets?

There is a universal mounting kit available. You can usually modify the gen. brackets to work.

Re: alternator brackets?

Some options:
If you're keeping the stock exhaust with the generator adjustment mounting tabs on it, here's an option (these are somewhat "universal" so might be what you need with the ol GMC: http://www.alternatorparts.com/Alter...brackets_1.htm

Here's a whole slew of options, but you've probably already seen these online:
http://www.google.com/search?q=alter...w=1892&bih=871

I've found that the adjustment arm is readily found at about any swap meet, but then again, I've been spoiled by Carlisle and Pomona...

Having said all that - sorry, but i'm not familiar with how the curved adjusting arm would/should mount to a GMC motor - may be able to improvise with one of these things though. Even chev had horizontally and vertically mounted bolts for adjusting arms, so something should work.

Re: alternator brackets?

Had to bring this thread back to the top. Can someone post pics of the generator and alternator brackets. Is there a big difference between the two? I'm looking to go with an alternator.
