That depends on what you might need from it. Personally I wouldn't waste 250.00 on a rusted out LWB, but the next guy might have a burning passion for it.

It is worth $350-400 as scrap here. I would buy it, pull what I wanted then haul it off.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

I see a good grille and brackets and a super hard to find Cardboard dash pad . That doesnt mean they are valuable but you wont see another one for a while . If it was nice i would buy it to get a few parts off igt and scrap it quickly. I think those dashes are cool.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

If it wouldn't cost to much to get it road worthy I would put a few dollars into it and use it as a beater or spare. Looks like it still has some nice parts. That hood looks nice at least from the one side.

No, unless it has a bunch of parts, like clutch linkage or something that you want...Would you just have this think taking up space in your yard, or do you have plans for it.

Unless you have buyers lines up for the parts before you buy it, I would say its not worth the hassle to make a few bucks.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

You could easily part it out for at least that price! I'd buy it for just the frame, engine, running gear & some of the various salvageable parts it has.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

I'd see $ here in MI but shipping may be a killer for you.
Non-integral L6 PS set up. Dash. Door pads? Early gage package. Early GMC grille and mounts and headlight bezels. I love the mirrops although I wouldn't run them on a half ton. Check for a posi unit in the rear.

Check on eflay for what these parts are bringing. Then you decide. This thing is like my 81 - every time I need a niggling part for my 77 or 82 I know where to get it.

I would buy it, and as said, get what you need or can sell off of it and scrap that baby.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

Those are the trucks I live to find and buy so cheap. Rob what you need and then some and start scraping the rest. Since we generate so much scrap metal here, it works nice to have a big 8' bed to toss it all in. Get a full truck and haul it off.

I've been looking for a straight 6 truck for a simple driver, can't seem to find one around me. Seems everyone has already yanked them out and dropped in a tired old 350.

Even if you don't want the engine, I would save the head. If someone wants to change out their intregral head, they would be glad to have it.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

I'd pick it up for 250, likely double your money parting it out...unless it can be turned into a running/driving truck with little effort/$$...the you could keep it, or make even more off of it.

I see a desireable PS setup, non-integral head, possibly exterior trim, dash pad, grill and brackets, the unique early GMC tailgate, amd I am sure there are more parts someone could use or want.

Offer him/her $150 for it, drive/push/pull/shove it to the junk yard and make $100 bucks.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

I will buy ANY car for $250 as long as its complete. On that truck. I see alot of good parts, and its worth around 500 bux at the scrap yard. example..... I bought a 95 olds 98 with a bad trans for 300 bux. I took the engine and put in another car, stuck blown engine in trunk of 95 olds so it had its weight back. cut radiator and condenser out, catalitic converter and took aluminum rims off and battery. I got $495 for the car, $5 for the bad battery, $20 each for the aluminum rims with tires unmounted, $80 for the cat and $15 for radiator and condenser. I also sold the tires on craigslist for $100 AND I kept the good engine for my 98 oldsmobile. So I got $775 for the car and parts and kept the good engine. Minus the $300 I payed for it, I made $475 profit and kept the good engine!

That looks like a steal here in MD. $500 seems to be the minimum anyone around here starts selling at for ones in as bad if not worse shape.

Personally, yes. But not to re-sell, to keep. The rust can be neutralized(?) and can be dealt with gradually(?)

Rusty but complete.

I'd do it, and keep it as a "yard truck", then I don't beat up my current truck with rocks and limbs and in the woods. I'm hunting one now just waiting for a deal like you found to come up.

Re: Would you buy this for $250

My dad had an old I6 when I was a kid. That was one great engine. Not fast, but it was geared low and would pull anything. used to use it to pull stumps and haul rock. I miss that old beast. We beat the hell out of that old thing for at least 15 years and never had to fix anything but the brakes and do fluid changes. He gave it away about 10 years ago and I still miss it to this day. Running or not I'd throw down $250 on that any day of the week.
