Cluster lights problem
I did the cluster swap....but the cluster lights don't work.
Turn signals work...high beam indicator works...but no other lights... Any ideas...the bulbs are good... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Cluster lights problem
First thought... make sure your dash lamp dimmer isn't turned down (turning the headlight switch).
Second, check the connection where your dash connector is, could be a bent or missing contact on the circuit board. Make sure you are getting voltage up to that point. You changed the whole cluster or just the bezel?

Re: Cluster lights problem
The whole cluster...went from 3 gauge to the 7 gauge cluster....
Everything works....well except for the gauge lights... I'll check those things

Re: Cluster lights problem
If you know you're getting voltage for the instrument lights, try cleaning the bulb contacts on the printed circuit sheet. Perhaps trace the copper strips to see if it is broken with a ohm meter. You might need a new printed circuit, which are fairly inexpensive.

Re: Cluster lights problem
If you go from a 3 guage cluster to a full cluster isn't there something you have to do to the harness?
Also, there is a fuse that works those lights as well as the taillights.

Re: Cluster lights problem
There is definitely a difference between the plug in harness as to how they are wired. The first diagram is how the 3 gauge cluster is wired and the second is how the gauge cluster should be wired. There is also a fuse for both types and it is labeled Pnl lights in the fuse panel. The gray wire is the hot wire for the panel lights. The gauge cluster must be grounded well also.
The cluster lights are wired at 12 on the idiot light cluster and at 8 on the gauge cluster. The fuel gauge goes from 7 to 3 and the temp gauge goes from 5 to 6. You can also see the ammeter wires go to 1 and 12 on the gauge cluster. The oil pressure and generator lights go away and the turn signal lights flip flop.

Re: Cluster lights problem
had a similar problem with mine, try running a ground wire from the back of the gauge panel to a good ground.
