My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
OK fellas, I finally found a crew cab that I just couldnt pass on. It's a 85 one ton 6.2 diesel sm465/np205 4x4. It already has a 4 inch lift and nearly new 35 inch tires. I ordered a crossover steering system for it already so it'll drive nice. I am going to replace the previously replaced rocker panels(done poorly) and go through and redo the entire interior. I plan to drive it for a while then either add a 700r4/np205 combo or just do a Cummins swap! I am so pumped to finally have my one ton crew cab 4x4!!!

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
You mind taking some pictures of how its mounted when you take it out? I need a bench with a fold down cupholder/console like that and the local junker has one ive been thinking about picking up.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
OK fellas, I know its been a while since I updated anything. My best friend passed away last week and I have been super busy helping his wife. She just found out she is pregnant! Glad he was able to leave a piece of him with her.
Well, my friend was a Cummins freak! So, in honor of him the crew IS getting a Cummins. I picked it up yesterday and now need to get a trans and t-case(working on that) Anyone used a 4l80 with a Cummins? I also need to know if anyone on here has used the Tennessee Diesel Conversions engine mount packages? Or just made your own mounts. I dont have a welder myself anymore but have access. Would be easier to buy something but open to ideas.

Want to trade for my burb? Here is the NADA: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Ca...ban-4WD/Values I've heard good thing about the following conversion companies: http://www.tndieselpower.com/site/ http://www.autoworldmt.com/ http://www.avalancheengineering.com/ http://www.cumminsstuff.com/conversion.htm http://www.destroked.com/index.shtml Check out all of their sites. About the 4L80E, I know a few guys running them behind Cummins. Personally I wouldn't. I'd do an Allison or a Dodge Auto trans. But if you are set on a 4L80E, I would get it beefed up. Transmission Center can hook you up. Just tell him about the engine/vehicle and he'll tell you what you need. Great customer service and knowledge. And he isn't butt ugly expensive. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4l80e.htm There are more transmissions on his homepage.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
Thanks man, I know about most of those places. Just trying to also find some people with actual installs, personal experience , etc... Someone with good pics hopefully!
I posted the crew after my buddy died. He was the one helping with the Cummins stuff. It just hurt to even look at it. Now, I am going to do it in memory of him. He would have made it NASTY! So, I am going to as well.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
Sorry to hear about your friend.
Check on the Cummins Forum and Diesel Bombers and 4BT Swaps. 4BT swaps is a GREAT site! And yes, I'm on ALL of them.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
I've been on a few of them too. I bought a divorced NP205 so now my trans choices are much more open. I dont really want to run a controller for the
4l80e unless theres a cheaper way than TCI or one of those companies. I am currently looking for a A518 2wd trans but am kinda leaning torward the 4l80. Not sure yet.

Re: My 85 Crew Cab Diesel Build: Project Haus
You can get a non electric 4L80E. It's called a 4L80(bionic). Transmission center can help you out with parts to convert to bionic.
