glove box spec sheet gone, can new one be ordered up somewhere?

I was doing research, and saving bookmarks, and then one day...poof, blue screen of death...all my research/records gone. Maybe I'll just start writing stuff down in a notebook...never seen a notebook with blue screen of death..

I thought I read (somewhere) that there was a way to order up a replacement spec sheet.

Does that sound familiar to anybody?

I have next to nothing on this truck. (1977 Stepside Heavy Half)

No tag in the engine compartment. No spec sheet in the glovebox.

There is some sort of data sticker in the door frame, but it is not readable. Is that the same sticker that would have been in the glove box? Or is it an alternative for the engine bay tag? Anyone know?

I would really like to know what it left the factory with.

If it ever finds a new home in the future, I'm sure the new owner probably wouldn't mind knowing, either.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Have you looked under the seat? If it's the original seat, the build sheet may be stuck under there between the foam and the springs.

You can try outintheshop.com. They make reproduction SPID labels for 67-72's. They might make one for 73-87s as well.

I know I've seen them. you fill in the info and they print it up for you. I can't remember where in the hell that was, but know your search will come to fruition if you are diligent.

I don't think I was clear enough. I don't have any of the info/codes to fill in...that's what I need to find out first...

Do you really use "Fruition" in your daily conversation?

One entry found for fruition.

Main Entry: fruˇiˇtion
Pronunciation: frü-ish-n
Function: noun
1 : the state of bearing fruit
2 : the state of being real or complete : REALIZATION, ACCOMPLISHMENT <brought her dreams to fruition>

I have contacted a couple of vendors but have not found one doing 73-87;they are available for 67-72.Just a matter of time as our trucks move from "used truck" to "collector truck" .

Re: glove box spec sheet gone, can new one be ordered up somewhere?

Does it look different than the SPI used on the trucks in the 1960's?

I made one in Excel, PM me your email and I will send you a copy. Add the data, print it on a self-stick label and stick it on.

Yeah, that's what's missing.

I read about a GM Restoration Pack (maybe similar to the Heritage mentioned above...???), and my understanding was that a SPID was not included...I'll have to go back and re-read.

Re: glove box spec sheet gone, can new one be ordered up somewhere?

Well, I found the GM Heritage site, and found this link:

http://gmheritagecenter.com/gm-herit...tion-kits.html

The 1977 Chevy truck link is 103 pages long. Lot of info.

Thanks for the various info and feedback. I may not have an SPID, but at least I can ferret out what the build options "probably" were on my rig.

Re: glove box spec sheet gone, can new one be ordered up somewhere?

How is this for weird?

I ordered up my spec sheet from GM Heritage yesterday, and got it today via email in pdf format. The only record they have is the invoice which shows all options as delivered to the dealer.

Now the weird part...

It is a 1977 Chevrolet Stepside.

Shipped--7-7-77....how weird is that?!?

Whoa - time to play the lottery...

Incidently, that would be a very, very late 1977 model year build, so it probably would not be VIN #68 (the 68th truck built) as indicated in your other post.

Re: glove box spec sheet gone, can new one be ordered up somewhere?

I thought the last three digits of the VIN indicated order of build...my last three are 068. Is that not right?
