Air Over Leaf Question

[Pro Performance]

I am planning on running AOL on my 84 C10. Right now, I have 2 leafs with an overload, and a flip kit installed. How many leafs is recommended for this setup? I am going to remove the overload for sure.

Also, I am a little concerned about the leaf springs bending backwards. I am thinking of putting a drop shackle so that this does not happen. But, if I do the drop schackle and leave 2 leafs in, will the spring be too stiff, thus requiring more air to bring to ride height and causing a rougher ride?

Options:

A) 2 leafs with just a flip kit
B) 2 leafs with a flip kit and drop axle
C) 1 leaf with just a flip kit
D) 1 leaf with a flip kit and drop axle

I have 3 leafs, with a drop shackle on mine with AirLift sleeve bags. It goes all the way down until the pumpkin hits the bed floor. I can post a picture when I get home.

I assume you meant to say shackle here "B) 2 leafs with a flip kit and drop axle". That should be your starting point. DO NOT go to one leaf. The upper leaf is not designed to be run mono.

how is your front done,I,m hoping spindles,coil, bag front.Please say no PB.or z frame.Is has just the right look.

Just the standard cup on the bottom and plate on the top.

Thanks for the info and pictures. I will order up some shackles and leave just 2 leafs in, but I think I will pull the overload out.
How is the ride with this setup?

Also, what type of fitting would I need for the bag setup up front? I am using the plates.
A 45 degree? 90 Degree?

Depends on what your goal is.... like if your wanted to run compressors or just run em off schraeder valve. Probably would suggest sleeved bags if you ran a AOL setup too and possible limiting strap.

If I want just AOL nothing on front do I need one compressor or two and what else. Thank you for ur help really new at this.

If your going to run the rear only for now you can just run a single compressor. If you just want the ability to increase your towing capacity you can use Schrader valves and an external air source.

Want truck back in to sit low like urs later on will get front done from ride tech. So that's why I want to know what to get started with an how low will the back sit with c notch.

I got the back all setup. How did you guys with AOL setup your shocks. This is a picture of my setup right now.

Got the rear airbag setup pretty much done. I still have to figure out where I am going to mount shocks. I haven't tried it yet, but I was told the 1-1/2 square tube will fit underneath the bed.

We moved one of my shock mounts to the rear to match the other. What made you go with convoluted bags over tapered sleeve?

I know some of the people at Slam Specialties, and I believe you get a better ride and more travel out of a convoluted bag. These back go from 3" to 12".....

Regarding the rear shock. When the axle is all the way in the c-notch and touching frame, the frame is in the path of the shock.

Bagged74 - Regarding the front with 22's. Did you have to modify the inner fenderwells to fit the 22's? Do you have a stock crossmember? What drop spindles (2.5" or 3")? I am assuming your front is bagged as well.

The front inner fenders are taken out. The crossmember is stock and the spindles are 3" DJM. It is bagged with 2600 dominators
