How much would it cost...

to have a body shop repair the rust at the bottom of my kick panels?

It's the standard rust running along the bottom of both panels.

And I am already aware that there are a lot of threads covering doing the repair yourself.

Re: How much would it cost...

Paint and body forum would have a better answer.

It's hard to give an estimate on this since every state/city is different but about 10 years or so ago I had a guy give me a $250 estimate for both sides. That was just to remove the old ones and replace the new ones and prime them. I'm sure it would be more these days.

Some shops like to give you an hourly rate since they don't know what they will encounter once the tear into these old trucks. Best thing to do is to just drive the truck over and have them look at it.

Yeah, I'm planning on taking to a shop on Tuesday for an estimate.

....if you can find one that will cut and weld metal. I've run into the problem where I live of the body shops being panel replacers for insurance work. (less time involved, more money)

Re: How much would it cost...

Thats a hard one to fix correct. looks like its the floor also. It will be worst then you think. W/o looking at it in person its all most impossible to say. You could be looking at $750 to $1000.00 at todays rates to do it correct. At $50.00 per hour thats 15 hours. To just cut it out as shown and just weld in whats gone would be less but then again not done correct. But thats just a guess. I always seem to lose money on rust repair as it always is worse then it seems.
