My friend has a 1976 3+3 with a 350 engine, on the option sheet it says that it has a hydromatic ( I think) it only has D 2 1 on the tranny, Please help ID the tranny. Thanks

its either a th350 or th400

What does the tranny pan look like?
Square with a corner cut off - 350TH.
Pretty much not straight and looks like an island - 400th.

On a 350 wouldn't it almost certainly be a TH350?

I thought TH400's were only used with 454's and c20's etc.

nope, member 85cruiser has a 350/th400 in his 3/4 ton. and anything could have been swaped out in the past 25 years

if it is a 3+3, it is certainly either a C/K 20 or 30, so it could very well be a TH 400.

Oh a hydromatic i think it looks like a th350 but its slightly different. i have heard of the and heard they where not all that good.

....but TH350, TH400 and TH700-4R for example are all really Turbo HydraMatics, or THM-xxx. I dunno if that's what you meant?

Thanks __________________ 1972 chevy super, long box, 402 big block (2,000 miles on rebuild) 2wd tach, tilt, tool box on bedside, a/c, sliding rear window, orange and white. 1972 Chevy Blazer 2wd, tach, tilt, a/c, my first engine overhauling experience, Orange, with white top 2006 Gmc Sierra, XM, Z-71, dark blue, onstar, leather, rear entertainment (audio only) heated seats, (the wife loves that feature) upgraded tires immediately after purchase to Goodyear Wrangler AT/S (hate those rock throwers that come from the factory) BWC
