ol'yeller
well, apparently, there was a glitch in the server, and the little traffic cops that keep our fourum running werent doing their job right... anyway, I have been approved (a second time) as a member, and will try again to post threads on my project.
the coles notes of my project are as follows... My wife and I have been putting on an annual carshow at our business for 6 years. I have been searching for a project for equally as long (or longer) I had hoped to find a 71 blazer to build a 'daily mudder' when a friend of mine turned my attention to the 55-57 trucks... the rest is history. after nearly a year of looking, I found a truck. |

Re: ol'yeller
I spent last year enjoying the truck as it came.
The reality of how other people 'work' on these trucks soon hit home. With the help of a couple of good friends, "the list" was started of 1) should do's 2) could do's and 3) would like to do's.... by summer last year, a new rad, rear end, guages and wiper motor were installed, and the enjoyment carried on - so did the refinement of 'the list' |

Re: ol'yeller
...fast forward to last fall, a deal was struck with a body shop (a real good one) and plans are made for "ol'blue" to spend the winter... 'at the spa'... the plan is that between work, the truck will start its transformation. The theory is that it should be out "late spring" and that the fun will continue!!
I know that there are numerous stories here about body men... this is not one of them! during tear down the frist thing we found is that the wiring harness was completly trashed. 4 joints between the firewall and the drivers side headlight meant that the re-wiring was moved onto the 'have to' part of "the list" additional issues were found related to work that was either done poorly, covered up, or left undone completely... |

Re: ol'yeller
so... lets skip all the crappy stuff - the delays, the hidden dammage, the frame straightening, the poor quality parts and the additional unexpected crap that always tries to dampen our spirits...
I am getting very close to getting the truck back from teh body shop!! here is what it looks like now... |

Re: ol'yeller
well... just over a year of history recapped in a few short posts, but I will share more data as we proceed!
the truck is going to be (very) bright yellow, complimented with suede black and chrome. The front brakes, the wiring, new cross members, and some miscelaneous things will round off the items to be checked off of "the list" for this year. The small 8 will remian under the hood but i do have something else to put in there. |
