Re: help with a tow motor
That's not really correct. It would be a 377. A 383 is a 350 bored .030" over with a crank from a 400. You can put a crank from a 350 into a 400 to also make a 377 that will rev way up for some high end spunk. To the OP, yes you can do it but your motor will need balanced unless you can use the balancer and flywheel from the 400 also, because the 400's were externally balanced.

Re: help with a tow motor
Depends on how much wear the cylinders show. It's almost always worth more power due to cubes, but having straight, round cylinders with good ring seal at the top of the bores thanks to a torque plate hone actually makes more difference. As long as you're getting new pistons anyway, have it bored and torque plate honed. Not many stroker pistons available in standard size anyway...

Re: help with a tow motor
the motor only has 2500 miles on it.i thought the was bullen me,but when i went through it it was cleaner then the head at paris island.i just plan on usen the truck to haul hay and a few of my tractors.the truck that i do the most towing with has a caddy 500 and a sm465,so i dont need a whole lot out of that little motor.just a little more
