Re: My 68's almost done
Is that an E85 carb on top of that Magnuson huffer? Hmm, 110 octane+supercharger+heavy foot= Lots of fun!!!
Looks good, man! We need a video when you get it running, though.

Re: My 68's almost done
Theres a video of it starting up under the photos. Also yes it is an E85 carb from quick fuel that I boost referenced the power valve on. It's got a good smell to it thats for sure. It has that race car smell when you start it up and it makes your eyes water and your nose burn when you start it up in the garage.
PS: I think your the first person that has seen the carb and not given me crap about trying to save money with "crappy cheap gas" and told me the mileage is going to suck. It sucked before with the old motor and it's going to suck now. I don't care about that I like the fact that the carb gets cold to the touch and act's like an inter-cooler and I can make more power than I could with 92 pump gas.

Re: My 68's almost done
I plan on putting my N/A basic 327 on E85, but's it's really only about 105 octane. I'm pretty excited.
Either way, I don't want another broke motor from cracked pistons from detonation from junk fuel. |

I don't run E10 in my vehicles. I've been getting my fuel at my local CO-OP cuz it's pure octane.

Re: My 68's almost done
I don't do the big wheels thing but If I did put wheels on it they would be 15's and they would be 200S. As far as tires go I got a set of Nitto 555R's on the back and there going to stay because they hook up pretty good. I need to do something with my center caps but I'm not sure what yet.

Re: My 68's almost done
I had my windshield replaced as it was cracked and it also needed o new rubber seal because it leaked. I ordered a precision windshield rubber and had
Safelite repair install a new PPG glass-cost was $225 and is guarnteed not to leak. the first windshield waas almost done when they broke it-so they had to come back with another glass and got that one installed. The safelite guy said one time they used 4 windshields before they got one guys truck fixed Good luck

Re: My 68's almost done
Well its been a year since I was last on here and said it was almost done, It's still not done but it's legal and on the road. I had a pretty bad year money wise last year but I have a great job now and the truck is back in the budget. I paid safelite to put the glass in, I broke two windshields before I gave up and I gave the guy $50 cash to put the back window in while he was here. The 3800 stall converter is a bit dumb with the motor I have in front of it, it makes for a wild ride. Next on the list is a 32 gal fuel cell, I only average 2mpg with the e85 so I have to have a full tank to make it into town this should improve as I seem to be using the right foot every chance I get!

Re: My 68's almost done
Makes me feel good, I managed to get my windshield in on my piece without breaking it. I talk to guys that built a NICE truck all alone and broke a windshield..
What kind of seal where you using? That may've 'not helped' Really nice truck man! You oughta be proud!

Your truck looks great! I've got a dumb question for you, why are you running two ballast resistors?

Re: My 68's almost done
I burned up my first Mallory unilite ignition module with only one and then I read about people using two to keep from burning up the module. Pretty much the most sensitive distributor you can get and I got one... Oh well I paid $75 for it used. Works good as of now though.

Re: My 68's almost done
