Cleaning oil...
So basically i need to clean a 2 huge oil spots from my garage and the street, asphalt. (house is getting inspected by landlord. just got the word yesterday night and only have 7 days...) I need the best, fastest way to clean oil.
I was think gas and alot of cat litter, of course in a heavily ventilated garage! or would diesel be safer? i have to get the shell of my old circuit car out of there and crush it too Its not even a F****** roller. On top of all that, the WHITE carpet needs to be heavily cleaned. and all that BS. - Gearhead with white carpet = worst idea ever! well rant over. I need to know the best way possible to get rid of oil. I have a soft enough wire brush. But its for a drill, and i know itll slightly eat up the concrete. Please help me out with this one guys i really need it!

Re: Cleaning oil...
purple power or simple green with a pressure washer? ive also let it soak for a bit then hit it with a hose and pushbroom. never used cat litter but it should absorb a good amount of oil.
carpets are easy. rent the shampooer from walmart etc or pay the guy to come over and do it. our local guy does it for pretty cheap. i just borrow the one from work but since its industrial size its a PITA to maneuver around a room.

Re: Cleaning oil...
I have had good luck with a bucket of hot water and dish soap.
1. Pour dish soap on oil spot 2. Take stiff brisel push broom or hand brush and rub soap into spot. 3. Rise with the hot water or even a garden hose works too. I usally repeat it 3-4 times. Works great on trans fluid aswell. |

Re: Cleaning oil...
NEVER EVER CONSIDER CLEANING ANYTHING WITH GASOLINE
landlords tend to get really pissed at people who burn down thier buildings

Re: Cleaning oil...
Yeah, I ended up using clr, 409, water and soap. And then topped it with kitty litter. Its working really good. Decided to do away with gasoline, I only have used it on a couple of the small deeper spots. Were talking no larger than an inch and a half in diameter. Its turning out not to be so bad, just have to find a way to get this car out of here! P.s. its on jackstands!

Re: Cleaning oil...
theres a couple scrapyard around that will tow it for free, but im worried about them scraping the concrete and all that. because that would cause alot of problems i dont need right now.
i got everything cleaned up around the car and now just need to get it to the point that HOPEFULLY it will halfway roll.. if not ill have to put my ol' 305 to some use.

Re: Cleaning oil...
I use Purple power or Castrol super clean. Spray the spot/area, wait a few minutes, hand wire brush, spray again, and rinse. After it dries, do repeat if necessary.

Re: Cleaning oil...
pour acetone on the stain ... then use oil-dri to soak up the acetone.
what happens is the acetone "floats" the oil out of the concrete then the oil-dri "catches" it for disposal. |
