Re: How do you pronounce 'orche'?

Okra is a vegetable and ochre is a color. Oaker is the only correct way to pronounce ochre, case closed. It's an odd word for our language, but just because you thought wrong for a long time doesn't make it right. It's pronounced oaker...just oaker. That's a fact.

Re: How do you pronounce 'orche'?

I have never heard of it called oak-er, only oak-ruh
I think it, like everything else, depends on where you are from (accents) to how it will be pronounced.

All I know is it is not pronounced or-cheee as it is spelled (or I hope not anyway lol)

I have always pronounced it like okra too, but since it is a yellow color it would be like the yellow variety of okra and not the nasty green variety. Fried is definitely the best way to eat it.

Am I the only one who became familiar with this term in Kindergarten from a Crayola 64 crayon box set (the one with the flip top and cool crayon sharperner in the back...)?
