got the '87 suburban running!
thanks everybody for the help. i didn't work on it everyday so it's been a while. climbed up in the engine compartment and pulled the dist. (electronic spark control) cap off. found a ton of rust and a broked pick-up. installed a reman and it fired right up. back on the road!
