Re: WTB Camper mirrors

I saw a fairly decent set of the '71/'72 style below eye level stainless mirrors in a junkyard here in Wisconsin last week. These are the smaller size that was available and a slightly different design than those on my 69. I thought about buying them to add to my parts collection. As I recall, the mirrors had a minimal amount of damage to the backs that could be worked out and polished, the elbows were a bit rusty and the acorn nuts looked like they were rusted on pretty soundly. The tripods were excellent. I also have collected several mirror heads that I've polished and some near perfect elbows that use bolts vs. acorn nuts on studs. If you strike out elsewhere, I can see if they are still on the truck and see what they want for them. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of $15- $20 each based on prior purchases. There is also another truck or Blazer with only one tripod (no mirror). I would not expect to make anything on this, only reimburse my actual cost.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

I appreciate you keeping an eye out for me and I'll let you know if I don't find another set in the next little bit. I'm hoping to find a set of the big ugly ones for an upcoming towing adventure, but I might have to just get what I can get. Thanks again, I really do appreciate the gesture.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Just to clarify... These are camper style mirrors with the 7" X 10" mirror. They are just the smaller tripod style vs. the style that had long legs at the bottom and the 2 arms at the top to a horizontal piece just under the window.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

I think the ones you have there look a bit better than the others, but I'm getting a pretty good mirror hole collection in my doors and would rather not drill anymore unless I have to, which it looks like I may have to

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

JQ-72, would those mirrors fit these holes in my doors? Also, are they aluminum or stainless?

cucvzuz, I think I need something with slightly longer legs, thanks though.

Yep, that's them. They came off a 1972 Cheyenne Super 3/4 ton and has "Camper Mirror Stainless" on glove box SPID.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Oh, I forgot your second question - the mounting arms are aluminum and the heads are stainless.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Mr. C, Those are the ones I'm looking for I think. I just sold the ones that are on my truck in the picture, but I'd be interested in some pictures of yours if you're considering selling them.

JQ-72, I'm going to see if I can find one that doesn't have the rust, but I'll let you know within the next couple days if I'm interested in yours.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

These have just been sitting around gathering dust. I don't plan on using them. That being said, do you have anything sitting around taking up valuable real estate that you'd want to trade? If not you cover the shipping and they are all yours.
I took a rag to one of them and cleaned it up. Both are in ok shape. The one in the photo has spots on the mirror and some spray paint on the arms. paint comes off fairly easily. Little elbo grease and some cleaner.
Let me know

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Wow, that would be great. Those are exactly what I'm looking for. I'll take them, just let me know what shipping will be. I don't imagine I have anything you'd want, but I'm more than willing to compensate you. Let me know what you think.

Edit: I've got an extra AM radio that my wife would probably like to see somewhere other than the dresser. Everything moves freely and I've always assumed it worked but I guess I never did test it. I was going to try use it to do something fancy with an iPod but never got around to it.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Those are some nice camper tripod mirrors Mr C. He can get the glass replaced at a glass shop and have a perfect set for what he needs. Nice jester on your part.

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

looking for a set of 8-350's. Other than that Im doing a complete rebuild on my 70CST20 Longhorn. I am replacing eveything that is not steel. Surprise me with something you never know it may be something that I need. If I dont it will get passed to another member who does. I will check on shipping them out of my work tomorrow for the best rate for you.

sounds good! I don't have one of those. Are you sure that you don't mind parting with it?

Re: WTB Camper mirrors

Yep, I'm sure. I'm not sure if the knobs will be right for your year, but everything looks to be in pretty decent shape. The pitting on the face isn't bad but a little worse than the picture makes it look.
