Lurker turned member, my humble beginings

Been lurking for a while, and finally am a member.
I didn't want to join until I had something to contribute.
Hear is my (new to me) 1972 shorty.
started life as a 350/400 A/C truck.
I just took the T400 out and put a new 700r4 in it's place.
Just put the rims and tires on last weekend (Boss 338, 20x8.5, 20x10)
The truck was already bagged when I got it. As I get further into it, i am finding things that will have to be fixed or changed, but thats part of the fun.

I do have a technical question though. The truck has a crazy (what I assume) brake pull to the right. Do these trucks have a problem with sticky calipers and loose steering boxes?

Any ways, here are some pictures of what I have to work with, thanks for looking!

Welcome to the best truck board on the net. That is super looking truck you have. Love the wheels. I assume you made it through the issues related to them

On the tech. question, you may want to pull the rear drums off and make sure they are adjusted to just barely drag when you spin the drum on both sides. I have heard of calipers sticking before too. Fortunately, you can buy brand new ones pretty cheap.

Keep the pics rolling in.

That's quite a bit of truck you got there to 'work with' as a starting point.

It would be a completed project in many peoples eyes.(although in our hobby, there is no such thing as 'done').

Looking forward to the 'improvements' and mods you got planned.

Re: Lurker turned member, my humble beginings

Sticking calipers....could be an issue with the caliper itself, or the pins are corroded and need to be cleaned or replaced. A disc brake hardware kit should have new pins.

But, it's a nice ride. Clean. So, from the Heart of Arkansas!

Re: Lurker turned member, my humble beginings

Thanks guys!!!

Yes, normal people would probably be good with the project were it's at in it's present state, but i have a disease and I can't leave well enough alone.

On the Boss wheel issue, what was it? I just became a dealer a couple of weeks ago and I was told the center hub wasn't open'd up enough to clear certain brakes, but i'm pretty sure it's been fixed, because these wheels fit perfect with no issue's.

As far as the truck, for now, I just picked up all the factory AC stuff and controls, so thats the first thing, maybe some big CPP brakes and then work some bugs out of the airbag suspension (rides awsome, but some jenky welding), thinking of a gen 3 motor someday (mayby 5.3 or 6.0) and body work and paint (was thinking gun metal grey) it's a healthy list, but I got time.

Not new to customizing, just new to this style truck. Here is a few pictures of my last street projects.

HERE is a link with all the problems and fixes. I'm glad to hear they bolted right on for you. I heard there are still Back spacing issues with the new ones?

Re: Lurker turned member, my humble beginings

Welcome from a few miles North of you. This is an awesome place to find answers to questions and to just get cool ideas. Love the 69 Chevelle! Owned two 68 HT's and one 69 HT.

Not sure if you've ever heard of it but Brothers Trucks puts on a Show & Shine truck show every June. It will be Sunday June 28th and is the BEST Chevy/GMC truck show around and it is ONLY Chevy & GMC trucks! No cars or any other model truck.

Great looking truck you got.
