Dana 70 front axle
I really do not no much about Dana 70 front. I have a chance to get one cheap should I go for it? Whats the difference in a swap between the dana 60 front to the dana 70 front. Width, spring perches. Are they alot stronger than a dana 60 front. Is it worth a swap? I have a dana 70HD rear in my 76 Crewcab dually.

Re: Dana 70 front axle
if it's closed knuckle drum brakes, I'd pass. They are weaker than a Dana 60.

Re: Dana 70 front axle
I think it is an old dually front axle. With what appears to have a huge inner ball like socket. It almost looks like the size of a soccerball, type of a joint. So these axles are not as desireable as a dana 60 then.

Re: Dana 70 front axle
GM K/30s never used them. My '77 DRW K/30 had a Dana 60 (disc brake) front and Dana 70 rear. What did it come out of? Does it have the 8-lug pattern? GM Dana 60s are so easy to install because 69-91 10-30s bolt up the same. Anything else takes extra work.

Re: Dana 70 front axle
My current C30- now K30 has a dana 60 front with disc brakes. I seen Dana 70 front axle up forsale and thought it was neat looks mean. It is a Dana 70 so I thought it would be better, but I guess not. It appears to have an 8 lug pattern. I am not sure what it is out of yet, I am currently emailing him to find out more info. Sounds like I better pass on it thou.

Re: Dana 70 front axle
If the pics looks like a 60, then it's a good one. I have yet to find one, but the open knuckle disc brake 70s are out there. Dodge and IH used them in their bigger trucks, early/mid 70s I believe.
