No Time To Work On My Truck!

Sure it's been hot, but I have had no free time to work on my truck. It's almost ready for primer. I need to pull the fr. bumper and the bed, and while I've got the bed off I'm going to flip the rearend. It's just so close but I can't find time to do it. The wife is going to visit her sister after the 4th, maybe then I can get back on it. Man I want to get it painted. Life keeps getting in the way of my projects. Randy

It's amazing what you can do at night. if you get an hour or 2 of rest you should feel primed for more

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

14 hours? Man, tough crowd. It may not look like it but I have a lot of hours in it already. I have a fireworks stand so this is a very busy time of year for me. Just no time for the truck right now. I'll get it done soon. I appreciate the motivation!

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

It helps me to have a list of smaller, manageable pieces that leads to the end result. It gives me the satisfaction of accomplishment many times and keeps me moving forward. It is easy to see the hard work you have already done. It will be a fine looking ride when you finish it.

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

I hear ya. I have parts piling up and no time to do anything. Full time job, side business, side-side job, house remodeling to finish before baby #3 arrives (2 weeks). I had to forewarn SWMBO and block out part of this coming Sunday to devote to some maintenance issues on the K5. I already know though that there will be something more pressing that has to get done.

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

Sometimes I wish I had the money to just pay someone, but I probably wouldn't be happy. At least when I get done I can say I did it. Don't get me wrong being able to afford to pay someone is fine, but I prefer doing all my work myself. Juggling work, house, family and projects ain't easy. Maybe after this one I'll slow down a bit.........probably not!

The color is going to be 82 Corvette gold, a little darker than the factory gold.

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

I've tried that before, when I had more money than time. Hired out the refacing and trimming on my house exterior wood. Fired the guy about 2/3 into the job. Year and a half later I'm still trying to clean up his mess by redoing it all. Never again. A project will sit unfinished until I can get to it. End of story.

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

Both my 70 and 83 patiently await me to have some more time. A guy I met at a car show last year stated old cars and trucks are for the old. They seem to be the only ones with the cash and time to work on them. Kids and work seem to drag out all projects.

I'm probably older than most here, but the whole time my kids were growing up I had countless projects. There is no better hobby than cars, trucks, and bikes. Because most of the time you are there, if they need you. You young guys keep it alive, and if your wife ever complains tell her you could be off playing golf, fishing, or barhopping with your buddies.

Re: No Time To Work On My Truck!

I hear you. I got my cab painted the end of may and have yet to fit the doors/fenders. I have done some little things but cannot seem to make the time for the more time consuming task's. Money jobs come along and I don't say no. I want it done yesterday, but the reality is it will happen when it happens. I should have built a bigger shop.....

Just shoot it with your favorite color of epoxy primer, call it done, and drive the wheels off it.
