Re: suburban rear axle

You have a 8.5inch 10 bolt axle with 31 spline shafts.
You will have to find the gear ratio yourself.
You didn't mention 2wd or 4wd, but I assumed 1/2 ton because it has a a 700R4.

Get an axle from a 81-91 Sub, Blazer or 81-87 truck.
If you go older, you will get a 12 bolt, which has minor mods with the u-joint.
Axles older than 88 or so will have 28 splines...not a big deal if swaping the entire axle.
parking brake cables should work, if not, swap the entire brake backing plates.

Can't assume it's only half ton. My 3/4ton diesel burb came with a 700R4.

Also I think 84 they changed the parking brake cable design. I had to do some mods when I swapped out the rear end on my 85 with one from an 82 Burb.

Re: suburban rear axle

You gotta figure out what it is by counting the teeth or if your lucky you might still have the build sheet for it in your truck. Which should have a code for your axle. If you want another 10 bolt or you could see about getting the 14bolt 6 lug the put in the light duty 3/4s tons. Late 80's to early 90's should all be the same.
