Um ya help
hey guys just wondering if anyone out there knows the best conversion for a 78 stepside i wanna replace the 12bolt rear end with a 9". just wondering if anyone out there knows if there is a 9" that is almost a straight bolt in?????like similiar length and spring center bolt location looking for an easy swap.

Unless your gunna do some serious drag racing or narrowing the axle for clicks is personally just put a Liau in the 12 bolt...cheaper...and easier...

I got one out of a mid 80's Ford truck that was really close to the same length. I can't remeber off the top of my head as far as the spring perches though. I will be shortening mine about 1-2" on each side so I can fit some 15x12 w/5" bs and some 29x15r15 tires.

Not a super easy bolt in deal, and a built 12 bolt will will hold everything you're likely to throw at it and it already fits perfect!
