I think the grill is turned upside down and the thin chrome around the chevrolet has been removed. Looks bad ass though.

Andyboy pretty much nailed it. Except the whole grille is not flipped, just the center opening. Then, since it was not originally designed to be viewed from that angle, metal was added to fill in the new top and lower opening.

The center hoop no longer matched the inverted opening so the letters were relieved to float on their own. Still need to paint the black part of the C-H-E-V-R-O-L-E-T

Here's a "normal" 61 grille for reference:

Re: A Grille Like No Other

That looks great
I've been toying with the idea of a '61 grill, but with GMC letters.
The chevy grill doesn't look as bulky/heavy as the GMC grill.

As Coulter said it looks better than factory, and its hard to beat what they have produced for those years...good job.

That looks killer! Very well done! The only other grill I have seen on these trucks that has been modified that nicely is this one below, and I am not a fan because of the sqaure headlights but it was very nicely done.

Thanks guys. Thought you might like it. That square light one looks like some good work, but not my taste either.
I have pics of the process if anyone is interested.

Very nice subtle mod that improves the factory look!!!

Will look even better with the black painted so the Chevrolet floats in the middle!

Re: A Grille Like No Other

I guess with all the grille talk, I just realized I have a 60 grill on my 61.

Re: A Grille Like No Other

That looks great! A GMC hood would compliment that grille brilliantly in my opinion, due to the similar bottom flare in the center section and turn signals.

Re: A Grille Like No Other

Looking at all the great modified grills is driving me crazy! I am waiting for my modified '66 grill to get finished at Chrome. I should have it by Friday at the latest, I told him to take his time (over a month) as I want it perfect.
