2006 Stance
Hey guys I just bought a 2006 Chevy 2 wheel drive pick up; its a crew cab with the 5.3 ltr. engine and only 28000 miles. It is a great truck and my wife and I both really like it but it sits a little to low (245/70/17). what is the best way to get it up a little without killing the ride?

On the 06' you can purchase a front end levelling kit that consists of new torsion bar keys and longer front shocks (2" +/-), you can also use a lift block in the rear if you want to retain the factory rake at the lifted height. The other option is a complete susension lift kit (available in 4", 6" and up) or a body lift kit (usually 2" or 3") I personally dont care for the looks of the body lift on these trucks. You see a lot more of the frame and if it has a hitch this creates a gap between the hitch/bumper or bumper and bed. Just my .02

Yes, you should be able to run a 285 or 295 (roughly a 32") on the factory wheels, you would have to careful with back space/offset on aftermarket wheels (may have to trim the front air dam)

WOW Shane, I didnt even notice the 2wd, I was thinking 4wd in my head, I guess I didnt read that correctly on my phone before I posted. I still think that Fabtech should have some lift components for the 2wd. I would bet there are also spacers/leveling kits for the 2wd's anyway.
Great catch Shane and I apologize to the OP for this!! EDIT: It appears that 04-06' could have torsion bar or coil, so pat321, you will have to check and see what the truck has. Fabtech does offer lifts for both versions of the truck though. They have a 3" spindle lift for the coil trucks and Im sure someone has levelling keys for the torsion bar trucks. there are 2wds with torsion bars ext cabs with 5.5 ft beds have them as well as the vho's (ss 2wd)
looks like coil spacers for you since its most likely got coils in it. |

I would rather see the use of the lift spindles if it is a coil spring truck, then there is no shock or geometry change. Just my opinion, thanks for the info as well! I didn't realize some 2wds had torsion bars too (well I knew Avalanches and HD trucks did, not 1/2 tons)
