Back to the track i go
I'm going back to the track Thursday. I'm going to take a lot of video of the truck off the line to see if I can dial my suspension in a little better. I hooked up my rear sway bar now I just need to do some testing to see if I can get some better 60ft times. I'm going to Union Grove Dragway in Wi, its slicks only night and they prep the track really good. I will put some video up when I can. I'm looking to run a 10.60@125mph.

If you can get someone to video from the drivers rear capturing both front and rear tires, that will help you a lot.
Buy some white shoe polish to put on the rear tire, just one stripe. That will help you see tire spin when you watch the video. Another thing you can do is take some string and some tape. On the front shocks, find a way to attach the string to the top so it can not come loose, make sure to pull on it pretty good. Then pull it down to the body of the shock. Make one wrap around the shock, basically taping the string to the shock. As you launch and the front end rises, it will pull the string and leave slack. When you get to the pits, have someone jack up the front while you watch the string. When the slack is rmoved, that is how high the front end went. This is very usefull when tring to dial in an adjustable shock. If you maxed out the front suspension, tighten the shock up. IMO, you don't want any more than 75-90% lift and less than that if you can make it work.

Thanks for the info I will try that. On a perfect launch do you want the front end to come up straight, or do you want the drivers side a little higher?

One other thing to get the front end not to lift as high you adjust the rebound on the front shocks tighter or do you adjust the compression on the rear shocks tighter?

You would prefer to make the front rise evenly. I have a brand new anti roll bar to help make this happen.

I went to the track and made 12 1/8th mile passes because I didn't want to get kicked out right away. The fastest 1/8 mile pass was my first run it was a 6.767 @ 103mph. My last 3 passes I ran all out and ran a 10.917, 10.968 and a 10.917 all at 124mph. My 1/8 mile time on my 10.917 runs were 6.999 @ 101mph. If I would of made a full run on my first pass I think it would have been close to a 10.6. They had street racing the night before I went so they scrape the track all the way down. No one was getting the best 60ft times. I'm still working on my suspension to get it to dead hook. My best 60ft was on the first pass with a 1.539 with some tire spin. The truck in race trim weights 5100 with me in it. The engine is still the stock bottom end with head studs. Here is a YouTube video of my last run. http://youtu.be/rxggDViYhLk

You'll have to see how it all works out for you, but many cars will get a better 60 (ET) if you get 1/2,,, 3/4 (depending on your chassis) even a full rotation or more of tirespin at launch. WHY?? I won't profess to know the science involved but if you watch, even the big boys set their clutch and timers to get a bit of spin right at launch. I have heard it is to do with 'tire speed'. Apparently...if the traction to hook and accelerate the car is there, then getting tirespeed up instantly produces better ET. It kind of makes sense.
All I can say for sure is dead hooking will eat parts,,, don't be too dead set on dead hooking until you prove that this tirespeed and a bit of spin at launch isn't right for your combination.
