58 kit truck
Hi, I am new to this forum, I bought this 58 step side from the p.o. completely disassembled! All the hardware went into several cans/boxes not separated or labeled, just one big mess.The good things, no rust and he had all the interior/exterior and frame blasted and epoxied primed. All chrome re chromed all new wood kit for the bed with new hardware.The interior and all mating edges painted,inner fender panel,firewall under side of cab painted black.I am looking forward to the rebuild and updating of this great truck! I will also take all the help/suggestion you care to give.

Looks like you got into the project for the fun part(being finishing it)! Putting it together won't be too difficult. are you keeping it four wheel drive? Have you picked your color yet?

Nice truck. You'll find the assembly manual will help a LOT putting it back together.
You can get it from any of the big venders like LMC, Truck Shop etc. best 24 bucks you'll ever spend on your truck. |

Nordic, that is one sweet project and looks like all the ugly work was done by the other guy !!!! You stumbled on to the right place for help. This site is awesome, just ask how this or that goes together and you will get a bunch of responses plus some photos to go along with it. The cool part about these old trucks is that they were all build during simpler times so the assembly and construction is pretty straight forward... Keep us posted.

Note that the FAM has zero information on 58-59 front sheet metal or fleetside bed. 55-57 are similar but not exactly the frame, especially in the front grille to fender and radiator area. Is it a Napco (doesn't look like it) or later model axles.

Thanks for all the replies! I am looking forward to the build. The p.o. started to change to four wheel drive, but I have the original front axle and will be putting it back in(out having new king pins installed) Any sugesstion on disc brake set up?

Looks very familiar! That's pretty much exactly the same way I started my last truck. Except, when I did start going to go the pieces .... they all weren't there. Assembly manuals, this forum, and find friends with similar trucks. They are pretty simple once you get going on it. Here's what I ended up.

 This site will be helpful....I buy a lot of stuff from them. http://www.classicparts.com/ Stock front axle and disc brakes are a good combo  Also, sway bars front and rear are worthwhile. congratulations and enjoy. justplainray |
