70-72 Door Mirrors on 67-69 Door
Hello All,
I'm new to this, but have read alot of threads from it on google search. I have a 1970 cab on a redone 1969 shortbox frame and just realized that the door mirrors are for 67-69 trucks. I'd like to convert to the 70-72 mirrors, so i bought them and wondering if anyone has come across a good template for relocating the mounting holes. I did see one thread where people used the existing holes, but i'd like to have the mirrors lined up correctly. I do have the factory assembly manual, but was wondering if anyone had come across an easier way. Thanks all. Shortbox MoneyPit |

I think Bruce88 has the templates for mounting them in his "it's only a truck" build thread.

Re: 70-72 Door Mirrors on 67-69 Door
I like the mirrors, but ran into a problem when I put the passenger side on. They are repops, and the pass. side wouldn't adjust in far enough to see down the side of the truck. I ended up making a wedge that went from around 3/4" thick at the front to nothing at the rear. This allowed me to adjust the mirror to be usable. Don't know of anyone else having the problem, but thought I would mention it anyway.
Wish I had the patience to be a thorough as Bruce, but that isn't going to happen. I just enjoy tinkering and driving the truck. I don't know if I would have the discipline to do a complete tear down and stick with it to the finish without suffering from burnout.

Re: 70-72 Door Mirrors on 67-69 Door
Thanks for the advise. I'll have a friend hold it in place first to see that it's function before I drill.
If you know of a place that sells the Door window vent kit with the front window (one that pivots) with all new hardware for less than $200 per side let me know. I've looked at lmctruck, classicparts, brothers, etc. already. Shortbox MoneyPit |

Re: 70-72 Door Mirrors on 67-69 Door
I ran "peeps" on mine, before the tear-down. Not really much in the way of rear vision, but they have a "look" that some (me) like.
But, since the teardown, I've given some consideration to what I'll run for mirrors when it is ready. You've taken one route...the later chrome mirrors. At the same time, I've thought about those, but just not sold on 'em. I've thought about the '64-67 passenger car (bow-tie) mirrors...so that's one idea. I'm also considering the original-style mirrors, but maybe with the arms shortened...kinda like the original but just tad different. I haven't seen any done that way, but it's a thought as is the original length. Whichever way you decide to go, it'll look good. So, hopefully you won't have any problems making them work for you.
