What will work.....?
I have a lead on a 71 or 72 chevy long bed....parts truck. What will translate from these two years to a 68 or 69? I'm just trying to stock pile or use what I can from the 71-72. Just shout them out....door latches, heater controls, cruise control (maybe!). Let me know!!!

Re: What will work.....?
You can make every single thing fit.
Some things will require swapping a whole 'system' or a bunch of parts... If you want the grill, then you swap the fenders/hood/core support and you can have the grill. If you like the 5 lug wheels, then you get to swap out the suspention(disk brakes... added bonus!) |

Re: What will work.....?
Ok, I see what you're saying. But without changing anything (like going from a 69 front end to a 71) what would work on 68 and 69's? I know the hood hinges and glove box doors are the same....what else? Heres what I know:
Its a 71 or 72, orange/ white top, long bed 2wd, mostly stock small v8. Will the door hinges, window regulator or even the doors work for my application? The engine compartment is real clean, the cab is also clean (with the exception of a rough install of non stock buckets). |

Re: What will work.....?
It will help to know the actual year (71 or 72) for the parts truck as well as what they're going on (68 or 69)
72 has different regulators and lock actuators (longer) but 71 would change over... Door hinges would work. Doors would work as a complete swap with the hinges....72's would have an extra hole under the vent window but if you don't care it won't affect anything...Fenders are different from 68 to 69..which do you have? The 71 or 2 fenders will fit a 69 as well as the rad support. 68 is different. Hood is same 69-72 other than a possible bowtie on the 69 or 70. A LOT of the parts will swap over.

Re: What will work.....?
I'm back.....heres what I got:
Black steering wheel (one small crack) Small block fan shroud Shift indicator and pointer (someone already cut the optic...question about that in a second) Dual horn with wiring (horns don't seem to work...oh well) Backup and taillight lenses Glove box light Not bad for 30 bucks! I'll get more later. Now about the pointer with fiber optic cable....when I removed it, the cable was broken or cut. Can I plug the working cable into this new pointer....if so how do I remove it without breaking anything? |
