disc rotor seal install

Folks, I realize this is elementary, but most recently I installed hub assemblies, not ones where you have to install a seal. Once the bearing is in I need to know which way the seal goes. Hollow side towards the spindle or the rotor? I have attached pictures. First picture or second? Also, these are tapped in right, no neccessarily pressed in? Thanks for any help.

The second pic is correct, and they do just tap in. Be gentle with the taps though, and keep the seal going in evenly, or straight.

Second pic. Get it started square as possible and drive in using a small scrap 2x4 layed flat. And dont forget to install your inner bearing first.

Thanks guys. I won't forget the bearing, I just couldn't figure out the seal. I diagram I saw on line seemed to have it the other way....

Yes the second picture and using a short piece of 2x4 works real well.
