My dads contribution to my build
I have for months been trying to figure out what to put in my 72 stepper for an engine, i have struggled with it because i don't have alot of cash, and what i do have i use for parts to build one of 2 trucks that i've always wanted.
And i'm thinking of selling the wrecker to fund my 72 BB fleet build. Anyway, i was talking about it yesturday with a friend, that i needed to find a good motor for the stepper, and i figured a nice 350 or 400 small block would be fun. Well i guess my dad overheard us because he gave me his built 454 for it. Just a bit of info on it, my dad bought a brand new K5 blazer in 77. We ran the hell out of that thing, it was awesome, i learned to drive it around the yard when i was 12-13. The stock motor bit the big one after 140k miles, so he parked it for a couple years. One day he found a 454 out of who knows what, and had it built. Took 3 years to build, the builder was lazy, but one of the best. He had new fenders, doors, rear quarters, the whole nine yards on that redo, except the floor pan, the rest came out great. He put maybe another 40k on it with the 454 after we put it in the blazer, what a scary machine that was. Jump to 8 years ago, the floor in the blazer gave up the fight, It was gone bad between the sub floor and the rear floor i guess. We had a couple body guys look at it, but they said it was more work than the blazer was worth. So it has been inside the storage building since dry and clean storage still in the blazer. I know it will need some work, but i very excited. I'm glad i bought those 72 BB mounts and clam shells. Thats my story i thought i'd share. I didn't think in a million years he'd give me that motor. That was his baby, and now it will be mine.

Re: My dads contribution to my build
That was very nice of him. I'm sure you'll find a way to return the favor one day. That's what family is all about.

Re: My dads contribution to my build
I work with him everyday. We have our moments, but he is the best. Always there. I'm very fortunate.
