Progress on the '72

Well, 2 weeks is not enough either LOL
We're going to work on it next weekend again, we should be painting the bed and fenders at that time.

2 tone paint is such a pain in the ass to paint! After repainting the cab (wrong color from the paint store) on the inside we moved outside and shot the white. We waited the minimal 45 minutes before taping off, shot the red then pulled the tape off along with some of the white!! uhhggggg So we had to wait till the next day then tape the red off and repaint the white.

Today was a good day though, I was able to assemble some of the interior parts. WOW it looks good I think. Black, Red and chrome everywhere.

We decided to not rush things so we're planning on painting the doors next weekend (along with the other left over parts) then WAIT till the following weekend to assemble the inside door parts.
I should be driving it home on Easter.

Next time I will rent a paint booth, I don't recommend this method for anyone. Not because of the painting problems but because I'm 400 miles from home and cant just finish up when I want. I'm under time restraints and its killing me. It's going to be tough these next 2 weeks.... I wont have my baby to drive around

I can't wait to show you guys this truck, I'm very happy with the color choice!

Gotta run, I leave for home in the morning and I'm not even ready for that lol.

Im going to be taking that same task on this summer but I choose to spray in the mornings before the bugs and sun hits. Ive had some awsome results and a few bummers. I have never had good luck painting in a garage as the over spray is a drag to buff out. Your truck looks great!

That looks great and I know exactlly what you mean by the two tone problems. It takes twice as long to do with all the taping off. I think its worth the extra effort as these trucks were designed for that 2 tone paint scheme. Thats why I still have to do my 67 and 68,just not as excited because they don't 2 tone as well. What are you using for the seats in that thing?

I have the twin to that! I even have the camaro tach.used late 80's nova buckets. You should get yourself some Nason chassis black and shoot the back of the frame as long as the box is off

Seat sounds really neat. Was it a custom job or can you buy them like that? Got a pic of your seat?
