Factory AM radio not working...where to start?

I'd like to get the AM radio working in the truck. I haven't started looking at the wiring yet. Hell, I haven't even checked to see if the fuse is good.

I definitely know it doesn't do anything when I turn the knob. Any suggestions to where I should start poking the voltmeter? Common failures?

Also, am I going to have to tear open the dash to sort this out?

Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure there is power to the red wire at the panel first. Does the on/off switch click when you turn it on? It should be a pretty solid snappy click. I had a switch wear out on one of my radios and had to replace it. The radios are pretty basic. Make sure it's all plugged in and getting power before thinking about removing it from the dash.

No need to tear out the dash. Actually you can't.

Remove the heater/ac asm and the ash tray. Remove the knobs and the locknuts. Remove the rear bracket screw that holds in it the back. Some say removing the glove compartment insert helps but I've never done that.

Make sure your speakers are working and that you have 12vdc (pic attached).

If you still can't get it to work, there's a guy on the internet that fixes them. He reminds me of the "food nazi" in that he has certain ways to do stuff and doesn't deviate from them so if you do decide to send it to him read his requirements.
