75 K20 Crew Cab Project

I just found this sight and wanted to do a build thread. This build will be slow, due to full time student.

This will be my DD, but for now I have a 92 D250 I did a SAS and ALOT of work to it.

I got this in trade for a set of wheels. It needed ALL new glass, and basically all body panels. I slowly started cleaning it up.

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

The truck had ZERO rust and was FREE! So I started going to work. Mind you it had a running 350 crate motor with under 5k on it, TH350/203. Flat top 44, 14 bolt FF with 410s. Had a NEW 6" lift.
Interior was ****, and the PO cut the last 10" off the rear of the frame

Couple more pics:
40's

Took it for a drive:

Interior gone and Herc-u-Lined.

Did a little clean up-

Crappy silver paint job inside:

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

Ohh ya and It ran decent. 20 Mile Drive home.

So I traded a set of 5x H1 wheels I was NOT using for a complete truck.
I got all doors, front clip and glass. Also picked up a set of 17x9 Wheels and 37" ATs I had off my dodge. Went to this-

Herc-u-Lined the inner fenders-

Little White paint-

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

So after some thinking , I decided to pull the motor trans and t case. I sold it all. Along with the 6" lift. Currently there is a set of 4" Skyjacker Soft rides on the front of the truck and blocks in the back. I will be doing this to it now-

FULL RESTO!

All new painted doors and cab off resto. 5.9 Cummins with a NV4500 and Ford 205. I have a 78 HP60 and 14 Bolt with 410s and Lockers. H2 wheels with 37" Falken AT's.

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

The Cross member I will be buying soon. Might of traded some 37" H1 tires and Wheels for a 92 auto.
http://www.avalancheengineering.com/new_products.html

The swap begins quick. Just need to sell my 454/400/203 combo to get a NV4500. Using my 79 HP60, so I can mate my FORD 205 to the NV4500.

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

Looks good
I'm not sure you need that cross member. I would box in the front half of the frame and use the stock engine mounts from 94 to 02 dodge for the frame mounts if you can't get a downer frame piece you could use 3/16 plate for engine mount and some 2x3 x1/8 tubing for your cross member just some ideas also run a search for cummins swap there's other guys that have done the same thing

not to get off the subject i did a lot of wheelin in the wash near you from mcbean to Indian duns long ago 1979 thru 1986 then they ran us out
here some pics of my old trucks i built i sold them all

good luck JM

Re: 75 K20 Crew Cab Project

Okay...... After reading, I am convinced on doing a 5.3L. I am still going to use my NV4500 thow. I also ended up with a 32 spline 205.
Some questions I need help with:

5.3 to NV4500-
I need to figure out a way to adapt my Nv to my LS 5.3 motor..... I found AA sells a kit.
http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-712500m/
I am looking to get something less then 650.00 bucks. That is ALOT for a clutch and flywheel. I would prefer to get factory parts. No hard to find stuff incase I need it in the future.

I gotta buy there NV bellhousing, and NV4500 to round pattern 32spline adapter kit. Also I am considering buying the Painless harness to make wiring ALOT easier. I will be doing vintage air, but I dont think the AC compresser for the engine is the same for the 5.3 as the kit.
