56 chevy stepside cab mounts
Ok I need a little help, I have a new cab mount set and I know the square rubber mounts go on the rear of the cab but what goes on the front mount on the outside of the frame? shims? rubber? nothing? I cant seem to find any pictures showing this. Thanks

Re: 56 chevy stepside cab mounts
You should have a thin rubber shim and a steel shim for the front. You may need more than one if the fenders don't line up.

Re: 56 chevy stepside cab mounts
OK, my thin rubber and steel shims are square like the rear rubber mount while the front mount is round. I assumed the shims went on the rear. ??

The square or slotted steel shim goes on the front along with the thin rubber shim that looks the same and a bolt with a nut clamping them down. Sometimes when I disassemble these trucks I find multiple shims in the front or a rectangular shim on top of the rear top mount. You can add or remove shims to help get the fenders to line up a look ok at the door. |
