Over the weekend, I've been working on putting stock height springs and shocks on. It seems like all shock related bolts are fine thread. It was hard to find 1/2" fine thread bolts close by, so to get it back together I used some 1/2" course thread bolts that I had. How important is it to have fine thread? I can probably get some from Automotive Fasteners during the week if I need to. I would've just reused the ones I took off, but they were 5/8" shoulder bolts that won't work with the new shocks. Thanks!

I get the fine thread bolts & nuts from ACE hardware locally, dont know if you have them in NC though. i think the fine threads are less likely to loosen under road vibration etc but im not an engineer at GM just my 2c. most older GM suspensions that ive messed with had fine thread hardware.

Coarse thread will work as long as it's grade 8.

Use GRADE-8 bolts & nyloc nuts (or standard metal lock-nuts) & you won't have issues w/coarse thread on the shocks. You can usually find the GRADE-8 hardware (& nyloc nuts) @ Lowes or Home Depot so it shouldn't be too difficult to get them.

Thanks guys! I kinda thought I would be ok with the course thread bolts, but wanted to ask to be sure. Lowe's used to keep the larger bolts in fine thread, but they have really cut back on their stock over the past few years.
