Project 67
This is our next project truck and that we have been thinking about for the past year. Finally pulled the trigger and made all the arangements for it's delivery which should happen this week. Floated several ideas from complete porterbuilt suspension with dropmember and bagged to very simple close to stock build. So hard to determine which way to go with these projects and you never know which way it may lead.
Anyway enjoy these pics Firedog took this project could very well be 3 years in confinement. Can you see the potential we seen?

In our arsonal is a SWB we stashed this summer also just in case we didn't want to limit ourselves to a step bed.

Re: Project 67
I have been thrown a patina style military tribute paint job similar to usmcsgt 50's model truck. However it is a long way from that. Of course I like the porterbuilt idea. Even throwing the idea around of a straight 6 and powerglide tranny too. The truck did come from a great board member tycoon4u we met at the board meet in tn a few years ago. We looked at the truck Last fall and just couldn't decide on it. The front fenders appear brand new an has a very nice grille. The cab floor looks perfect with new rockers and corners and a new cab bushings kit in a box in the cab. Can't wait for it to show up at the stage to give it a good bath and once over.

Re: Project 67
Agreed hard to tell until it gets a bath and cleaned up some. Inside and under the doors needs to be looked at to determine how sound they are. Frame checked for abuse also. Just finding a decent cab not needing new mounts or rusted thru the windshield this old are getting difficult to come across in our area. And the scrap metal prices along with the economy being the way they are doesn't help the search. It will have a safe place out of the elements until it becomes roadworthy. I've never been lucky like LocDoc to find something I can throw air, fuel and a battery in and drive it around the block.

Re: Project 67
If you go fleet and want to part with the step keep me in mind. I understand it will be a while and I'm fine with that.

Re: Project 67
Nice project rig guys! I'd almost keep it a stepper. There is a sweet 68 black lowered stepper that runs around here and that truck is mean looking! IMO it's hard to beat the looks of a stepper with all the SWB trucks running around now.

Re: Project 67
Early appearence of the front suspension indicates some serious overhaul as it can need a entire rebuild. Rather than spending coin on something stock I would be in favor of a bagged IFS from Porterbuilt and be done with it. But that requires some deep pockets. Step or fleet will be a difficult choice to make both have sex appeal in my book.

Re: Project 67
Go ground up... Rebuild the frame and suspension Then body items Then drivetrain Then interior Then drive.

Praterbuilt garage. We have so many ideas floating around about what to do with the truck. Even a thought to build a nice daily driver to a ground scraping bagged custom Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project 67
There will be lots of pics to see in KC Nate .
So Sammy has been tearing down the truck guess I news to get my rear over there to inspect the progress. First appearance shows a very solid cab with most repairs completed except a front cab mount. Also a decision has been made to bag it, I think we have most parts on the shelf except drop spindles and c notch. Still can't decide on step side or fleet. Posted via Mobile Device

Well guys, I have been secretly keeping my eyes peeled for a nice three on the tree stepper and if I find one it will stay that way. Unfortunately all I can find is fleetsides. Looks like you have a winner there. Good luck with it no matter what you decide to do... LockDoc

Re: Project 67
Cab is sitting stripped to the bone on the cab dolley. Done some work on the R/H front cab support it only needs final welding to be completed. Yesterday done some hog trading and picked up a 4.3L V-6 with harness and entertaining the idea of seeing how that would fit. Eng mounts, tranny mounts could pose an interesting set of ideas. I can't be the first to have decided to try to work that idea.

Re: Project 67
And under this 6 miles of wires; steering column, gas tank, lines and D/S is a Vortec 4.3L complete ready for some alterations to fit the 67.
Never new there were that many wires in a vehicle. Good thing I can delete a bunch of these.

Re: Project 67
Now to get ready for KC. Then it's frame prep time to see what it takes to mount the V6 inside the frame rails.
