Stepside rear end - Opinions
I have been thinking of ways to do the rear end on my '67 Stepside and saw these pics from a show in Boise recently.
I like the clean look on this 1963:  I am not sure I like the ZR1 rollpan on this 55 though. I think these look much better on the 88+ body styles.  Here are the rest of the pics if anyone is interested: Boise truck pics |

This is an old pic of the mockup of my '67 shorty rear. I fabricated the stake covers and will be welding them in this weekend. The only change to this pic is that I took one board member's advice and continued the covers down the bottom of the roll pan on both sides. Really looks like it should be that way anyhow!

I really like the no chain look. That is a must in my opinion. As for the tail lights I am still stuck on the stock lights. I just think they are part of the nostalgia of the stepside truck. I do like the rear roll pans, but only because all bumpers are only chromed on the outside and with a stepside truck you can see the backside and unchromed side of the bumper....
I like how the round part of the bed rail is filled also. Oh, and the Chevrolet painted in on that red truck looks great IMO.

I like the chainless look and the original taillights on the stepsides... painted letters in a contrasting color is always cool...prefer bumpers to roll pans on stepsides, but the roll pans look great on the fleetsides...

I like the 63 too. Do you know any of the details for the chain-n-latch fix that was used on that truck, it looks real slick. I think it would look better with some flush mounted lights instead of the aftermarket billet lights. Or if you want the nostalgic look there's one of the late 50's trucks that used a nice looking chromed lights on the step bed. I'm thinking it's 58 but not sure. Can't tell from the pic is the roll pan notched for the exhaust tips, thats always a nice detail.
