Any suggestions for tan SEM colors that will go nicely with Silverado interiors? I'm leaning towards Light Buckskin. I'm changing my interior from the red color to tan. Will coverage over the red be a problem? I'm going to recover / paint everything, but I will need to buy matching seat belts, GM or aftermarket.

Also, what carpet is used in tan interior trucks? Dark brown or tan? If its darker, do the door panel carpets match the floor or the door panels? Thanks!

LMC sells Colorbond in Saddle color ... I could go with that?

I used SEM Palomino interior paint, then picked carpet color from samples at the local upholstery shop. If I did it again, I would buy molded carpet from an online supplier, then go to a local upholstery shop for the headliner an pick a matching color and pick a SEM color to match. You can get the SEM color chart by looking online, but it is best to visit your local auto paint supplier to see the caps on the spray cans - the color of the cap is close to the actual color. I used a darker tan because I did not want the light buckskin tan - the factory light tan I had got dirty quickly. I did use it for the seat cover but covered it with a matching Walmart tan cover. Plan on at least two coats, regardless of the color. I did not like the SEM primer - just made everything sticky and did not improve color. I did not like the velour cloth door insert - got dirty too quickly - so I had the upholsterer install vinyl over padding in that area and painted it with SEM paint also. He used too much padding but it is still better than velour cloth.

That looks really nice! I think that color is what I envisioned the light buckskin would look like. I should rethink the color. Also, I like your idea about changing the insert material ... mine is currently cloth too.

If you need straps and caps I would check out JC Whitney for replacements. I used them and they are stronger than stock - have a metal reinforcement in the center and hold their shape - about $20 + S&H. They do have a cheap chrome like coating on the trim strips, but I think I will eventually just strip that off. The end caps are pricey - I bought Chinese knock offs and they do not clip in well - one just had a tab break off last week - but I cannot find OEMs.

Here is my '78 with buckskin interior. The carpet is new and the dash pad has been painted with an SEM color but everything else is original.

How long has this paint been on? I wouldnt mind doing this but I just cannot imagine the paint holding up very well.

I cant ever get this crap to stick.
I followed the instructions washed the parts with soap, and used the adhesion promoter and the no sand spray and that didnt work. Next, I sanded it all down and it still doesnt want to stick worth a crap.
It just scratches off and all I see is red under black paint.
Im going to opt for new door panels soon.
