feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
Almost none of my gauges were working accept for my speedo. I had wanted to do aftermarket but don't have the money right now. I came across a 97 z28 gauge cluster on ebay got it for 35$ shipped. My truck is fuel injected so i had the vss for the electric speedo. The rest of the gauges are all still analog so they work fine. Some of the wire colors were even the same as chevy used in 68. Pics aren't great had to use flash cause it was dark in garage. Tell me what you think. It turned out better than i thought. I may end up leaving it this way and using money for other needs the truck has. besides its different.

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
the only minor criticisms I can come up with is that it looks like it could come up an inch or two and be better spaced, and possibly have some sort of edge instead of it dropping from the flat of the plastic down into the gauge face itself (Maybe a little silver or something on the edge to make it transition smoother)
It really does look good just like it is!!! You even have some room in the corners for other gauges or switches if needed! |

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
You stole my thunder, i am literally doing the same thing! I originally looked into a 2000 blazer cluster but then found a 2000 z28 cluster in the junk yard and saw that it had the cutout for the steering wheel that we need so i got one off of ebay that wasn't broken. Still deciding whether i want to mount it in a glovebox door or add a plate to an original cluster to make it look nice. Good job!

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
thanks for the kind words. It is an old glove box door. as for the spacing its about as high as i could go. I wanted it a little higher but didn't have any more room. I also thought the same thing about something around the edge. Just couldn't decide what it should be. silver paint or maybe some kind of thin chrome trim. Might keep looking into that.

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
you cant beat it for the cost since you're EFI. I don't think it looks bad, esp considering the money you've got in it. You would have hundreds in aftermarket gauges and a nice aluminum panel.

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
I admire you ingenuity and love the low buck aspect.
BTW, while i don't really hate it, I like the look of round gauges better, traditional round gauges go with the style of the truck better IMO. if i bought a truck with gauges like that, i would leave them for now, but put them on my list to upgrade when I had the cash. Just my .02 |

I like it. Have you got any shots of the wiring in the back? I'm fixing to install all speedhut gauges in a new dash if and when they arrive.

Nice work! Though it's not my style, I have to give you points on ingenuity and the different factor.

I've never been a fan of late model gauges in old vehicles. With that being said, I like it. No. I love it. It almost looks like it belongs there.

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
Nice fix. I was going to just try and use the speedo guts out of my 96 S10 Blazer console but I might look at the whole thing now since it has a Tach. Nice thinking.

Personally I really like the long sweeping needles that that cluster has, it really stands out and looks slick!

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
Sweet, I'm looking to do exactly this -- bought a cluster on ebay, a connector from delphi and pins to wire it up. Anyone have pics or ideas about how to fab this?
Also interested in connections to LS swap wiring. For instance will a stock LS oil pressure sender provide the correct output for these gauges?

Re: feedback on 4th gen camaro gages in a 68
Truly amazing! How did you fit that into the bezel??? I tried to buy a factory cluster with a corvette tach from craigslist 2 years ago, but the seller only spoke with me once, then would not answer calls, or return messages.

Very nice work!
I have a cluster out of a 2002 Z28 if anyone may be interested. It was working fine when I parted the car out. PM me if interested.
