Installing bags on my 68. Is it ok to mount the bag directly to the flat plate that I bolted into my stock A-Arm and cross-member both top and or bottom?

Do I have to use a cup I guess is what I'm asking?

You can use a cup or a plate, both work. I have seen mounting kits that are either a plate or a cup on the bottom.

I used a cup because it was easier to take apart if needed since the cup wasn't bolted to the arm. Some people worry it isn't safe, but it's no different than the spring that just sat in the bottom of the arm.

hey question on that cup.. what size those it have to be.. i made one but its only 4 1/2 wide i need it wider right.. its on a 70 c10 short step

Does anybody "slot" the lower holes where the bag mounts to in order to allow for forward and back A-Arm adjustment? Seems like a good idea or is it not important?

The C10 lower control arm shafts are located to a fixed position w/dowels on the x-member. They don't move fore/aft for adjustment.

Mine are held on by those mini u-bolts and seems like I can mount it 3" either way? I'm I missing something?

Yes, the 'mini' u-bolts hold the shaft to the x-member.

Look @ the center of the u-bolt 'flanges' on the x-member & you'll see the 'pin' that slightly protrudes ( I believe they're on the front side). This dowel pin seats into a hole on the LCA shaft to positively locate it front to rear.

If you want a lower stance, you can cut 1.5 inches off of the cup. It makes a BIG difference.

You can cut 1.5" off,... if the cup is how tall to start with?
3"?
4"?

I've heard the cup can be no shorter than 1-5/8" total height.

This is for 73-87 arms. Early spring pockets are deeper, IIRC...

I don't have cups at all. Was trying to just use the plates. But won't go low enough. I never say the locating pins, hmm Thanks for the tips!
