69-70 bezel paint
What finish looks the best, satin, semi-gloss? Searched but couldn't find a recommended brand or finish...but there is some nice work out there! Oh ya just gonna use spray can application after priming.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
i haven't looked since '07, but I used to buy them all the time for 30-ish bucks. I had tried painting them in the past and was never too impressed, always looked like poop IMO. $30 is something even a broke tightwad like myself can scrimp together.

Ya, I hear ya. I'll give a try and see what happens. I'll try the satin and maybe I'll post the pics. We'll see.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
I bought a repop from Brothers and used a silver out of a spray can to paint the rings. They had them on sale about 6 months ago, only cost me $14.00 shipped to my door.

Re: 69-70 "headlight" bezel paint
Sorry, wasn't thinkin'! I just adjusted the post title...I was talkin' about the bezel around the headlight. Heres some pics....gotta make the grill match later.
I used NAPA's TECnique trim black paint...satin or low gloss paint. Does it look close? |

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
I just painted mine last week with semi gloss black along with my inner grill. I spent like 30minutes prepping them for paint and they seem to hold up pretty well.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
The one original set I have in excellent condition is a very low gloss almost flat black.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
What you have is close but it is a sheen less shiny. However, if you did tape off and paint the inner grille black parts and the lines/chevy in the grille it would all look correct matching.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
Ya, it would make it make it uniform and consistant thats for sure. I'll use the pic you posted in another thread as paint guidelines. In the center cross bar of the grill looks like the are included for black paint....I didn't know that. Thought it was just the outer (upper/lower) edge between the ribs.

Re: 69-70 bezel paint
Thanks for the lead! He used Krylon satin. I went back a little farther and spotted what looked like a wide angle mirror on his driver door. I want to do that also....mirror shakes and viewing ability, you know. Thanks again!
