Calling All Ochre Blazers
I am completely redoing the interior of my Blazer and I want to get an idea of what the original carpet color should be for my Ochre Blazer. I have all parchment seats, door panels, cargo panels, visors, etc., which I know is original from the SPID. The original steering wheel, dash pad, and steering column are fawn/sandlewood. But the steering wheel and dash pad are way beyond repair and nobody makes these colors anymore. So I was going to go for the dark saddle steering wheel and dash pad. Is dark saddle the correct carpet color, or was there a fawn/sandlewood carpet in these Blazers. Thanks in advance.
BTW - post some pictures of your original/semi original Ochre Blazer interiors. |

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
I can't 100% answer your question, but it looks like a saddle carpet. You've probably seen his thread before, but here is 72Levi's thread. GREAT interior pics. He says that he got his carpet from stockinteriors.com. If you decide to stay with the parchment, I have a sandalwood colored repro steering wheel with an nos horn cap that I don't think I'll be using. Can't help with the dash pad though.

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
1949GMC - Thanks for the reply. Both links are a great help. Where did you find a sandlewood repop wheel? Can you send me some pictures and an asking price for your steering wheel and horn buttom to cleszkie@ch2m.com or PM me. Thanks.

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
I was honor-bound to answer the call, but I can't help. My response would be, "Carpet? What's that?"
The original was probably a saddle or tan, because that's the color of my door panels and the dash. |

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
Mine started life with a saddle interior according to the SPID but somehow ended up with parchment, go figure. One of my pictures shows a glimpse of what appears to be the original sandalwood carpet behind the passenger seat. I like that color combination and it goes well with the non-factory (but cool) fabric seat inserts.
I have a tilt steering column so the wheel and column in my Jimmy are black which I believe was the correct color combo for tilt. My dash pad was missing but I am going with black there also. |

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
Its strange to see threads you started years ago pop back up. I did eventually get my parchment and sandalwood interior completed in my Blazer for what its worth!

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
Could you post a few pics with the sandalwood/parch interior. Mine is black and in mint condition but I still want to change it. Love white or the sandalwood.
The interiors of the 60s-70s were so nice. Imagine trying to order blue interior nowadays. It's three options nowadays tan black or grey. Talk about boring. |

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
Here are a couple of "befores" on mine. I am now in the "during" phase and "after" still seems a distant and expensive dream.

Re: Calling All Ochre Blazers
Wow. I started this thread in 2011. Chimed back in in 2015 when it was revived. And now I'm chiming back in in 2019 for the second revival! Attached are a few pictures of my Blazer with the complete parchment/sandalwood interior. I have a sandalwood steering wheel but it is not installed. I prefer the feel of the smaller comfort grip wheel.
