Taking the 69 C10 on a road trip - what to carry just in case?

So, this Labor Day we are taking our 1969 C10 on a 800 mile road trip... this is actually this truck's first time going over the Mason-Dixon line. It has never been North of where it was built, Baltimore.

Anyway, what should we take?

This is what we have so far:
Spare belt
Fluids
Spare plugs and wires
General tools

Anyone else take their trucks on trips?

One thing that never leaves my truck, a good tow strap. Have fun, it sounds like a awesome trip!

I went from Ontario to Daytona Beach in mine. Brought a box of tools and everything above. Tire flat foam came in handy as did the extra water jugs(big time)
Extra Battery doesnt hurt. Make sure your spare is good condition.

Good Stuff... will add somethings to the back of the truck.
We are looking forward to stopping at some neat places, such as an old drive-in diner in PA that still serves you at your car with the window trays.

If you run HEI ignition, take a spare ignition module. If you run a voltage regulator take a spare one of those. Also take a spare in-line fuel filter.

I myself take a cooler with something to eat and 24 beers so when i have a break down I can have a few then fix the problem or if someone stops they are more willing to help if you have a cold one for them and a phone

Re: Taking the 69 C10 on a road trip - what to carry just in case?

Outside the other suggestions, zip ties have gotten me out of binds before. Great suggestion on the tow strap. Sadly, I've used mine more than once.

Also, anti-theft device since I'm assuming you won't be in a garage every night. I'd guess our older vehicles are easy money to car thieves. I have both the steering wheel club and brake club. Yes, just about every anti-theft device can be bypassed, but it may motivate the thief to move onto the next one.

Good luck and be safe!!

Great Suggestions!

I have always found that as long as I have tools with me, I won't need them. So I always take them with me.

Take the laptop. There is a members list available thru the BB for members who get in a bind.Usually a nearby member can help. Some have gone above and beyond. One disassembled an axle to get another going.Another spent a weekend helping a member get to a new duty station.I've found there's not much members of this BB wont do to help someone out if they can.

I can't believe ya'll. Never, ever go on a long trip without packing a roll of duct tape! It fixes everything. Therefore, it's all you will need.

Cool Re: Taking the 69 C10 on a road trip - what to carry just in case?

Get a good Jack so if you need to work under the truck. Plus a jack stand! Never trust a hydrolic jack NEVER!
Have extra fuses. Also a old blanket are something to lay on if you need it. I have the top of a old bed mattress that I use it a pillow top to get on the floor. Gravel and hot asphalt aren't nice to lay on when working on the side of the road. Oh may want some flares or signs to put out if you break down at night.
Hope you have a safe and wonderful time on the trip.
Take plenty of pictures please.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
