4x4 Burb Question
For any of you with a 4x4 Burb, with stock suspension, does you rear sit lower than the front of the vehicle? One more question, can somebody with stock 1/2 ton suspension 4x4, can you count the number of leafs in your REAR leaf pack? I am going back stock, and wanna make sure I have the right packs. Thanks for any help you got!

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
Never owned one, however, I have always noticed the pickups and the few 4x4 burbs I have seen all seem to sit as you describe.

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
I have one and it might be the same way as yours. Here is a link to a different thread on a different forum where mine is posted. I'll try to get better pictures and let you know.

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
If I had the money and the skill set I would but I love that thing. I really do. Thanks for looking at it and appreciate the comments. I'm currently changing my intake manifold, carb and air filter. when that is done today I'll move it to flat ground and snaps some shots to see how it sits. Then you can compare it to yours.

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
Mine sits lower in the rear. I have a stock suspension with 31x10.50 r15's. I have gotten used to it over the last 15 years. If I ever do a lift, it will be a 4 inch in front and a 6 in back, all leaf springs, no blocks. That should even it up nicely. I have a closed knuckle in front too, which will get changed if I ever get a 'round tuit' to do the lift.

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
Check very carefully for broken leaves.
I bought my '72 K10 in 2000, noticed right away it was a taildragger. Found some broken leaves, ordered new rear springs from GMCPauls. They were drop-shipped from some supplier. After much pain and suffering installing them, back end was very noticeably higher, would say 1-1/2" to 2". It now sat back end slightly high. It has 5 leaves rear and 2 front. Bought my '70 K10 in March 2010. It already had new rear springs on it. It has 6 leaves rear and 3 front, but still conventional 1/2 ton running gear. Complication: I figured out later it is a 2wd body on a 4x4 burb frame. But as far as I can tell it is a '70 frame, the shape of the t-case stick is a giveaway. The other strange thing is that the '70 rides and handles MUCH better than the '72 ever did. It sits basically level. Don't know if this helps or complicates it. Just my observations. |

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
I am not an expert but I think I remember from original specs that they start out level. I think leaf spring wear on 4x4's does it. Neither of mine were original on springs so I cannot say from experience.

Re: 4x4 Burb Question
My K10 Suburban sat level on stock suspension before I lifted it. I've still got the stock springs in the rear (shackle flip). They've got five leaves, just like my K5 Blazer.
