Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
I have owned this vehicle for years with the intent of using it as a donor, and now I have finally gotten down to making that a reality. It's a 1979 Suburban Silverado, half-ton, fully loaded. California high-desert vehicle, no rust. The 454 had issues, and the cost to rebuild the engine and get it legal to pass strict California smog standards made it to where I had no choice but to part it out. Here's the parts that I am going to use or that have already been spoken for:
Motor/trans Entire front suspension rear axle wheels/tires doors radiator cruise control parts Jack Rear A/C ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ __________ Here's what's left: Interior, including 3rd seat (tan, velour) (PM for prices) Gauge cluster, non-tach style ($40) SALE PENDING tilt column, with steering wheel and key ($125) SALE PENDING Glovebox SALE PENDING Entire front clip, minus grille, which was broken SOLD Dual exhaust, 2.25" with turbo mufflers and tailpipes to the rear bumper ($75) Rear Tailgate ($75) Rear Bumper SOLD Rear bumper brackets, license plate box, and bumper bolts SOLD Taillights ($25) SOLD Fuel Tank ($25) Rear leaf springs ($35) Mirrors ($25) SOLD Emblems/trim (PM me) Entire A/C system SOLD Mouldings (fender, door, tailgate) SOLD Headlight Bezels SOLD Rear power window switch SOLD Front seatbelts Plus lots, lots, lots, more! PM me with any parts requests. Anything that doesn't sell on here will get put on Craigslist, and after that, the scrap yard. I would prefer local sales on the large, heavy items. PM me with requests for anything I have not listed. Here's some pictures before the teardown: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
I am late as usual but put me in line for the rear window switch, bezel, wire connector and as much of the wiring as possible, fuse panel? uncut? where I can just slide it back in the fuse block. push the clip against the spade connector..........
Also the fenders and inner fenders if you will ship, I will tell you a trick for shipping them if it gets to me! otherwise i will save the trick if some other fenders come up for sale, whoops, don't mind dent but want/need rust free to replace the aftermarket ones I have now. Nothing wrong witht he ones I have except the don't fit right and the body lines are off. Thanks, PM if it gets to me please.......... Steve |

Re: Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
Do you still have the aluminum body mouldings. If so I am interested in all moulding from crewcab doors forward and the tailgate trim. If it is still available.

Re: Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
I need the following parts...
Rear outer bumper brackets (not the inners), all eight bumper chrome carriage bolts and nuts (if you can piece together a very nice set using the front that would be great!), rear license plate box and all mounting hardware, and license plate light and mounting hardware (unplug the wiring if you can). Please let me know the total, my zip is 55448. PM sent too... Thank you.

Re: Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
Does this truck have the torx head stainless steel screws for the lenses and/or bezels? I know it may sound weird but I will take a bunch if it has them. Thanks, Brian

Do you know what color are those parts? And how much you're asking?

Re: Parting Out: 1979 Suburban
They are the factory brown color that they used in the mid-late 70s. The interior is 100% factory. I'll be working on the truck removing parts all day today, so I'll try to figure out what that part is next to the battery. As far as the kick panels, I'll take $10 each, plus shipping.
Low, low, prices folks! A few more weeks of stripping parts, then it's off to the scrapper!
