88-98 front on our trucks ???

I was flipping through a 4 wheel and off road mag, and I saw an ad with a kit to do this to our trucks. Has anyone seen this done, I think it would look kinda dumb.

If it means I would have to run fiberglass fenders, count me out! But, it doesn't look half bad.

I thought of doing that a couple years back. A friend of mine with 35 yrs experience in a body shop got me off that idea. Not only will the body lines not blend well, but it would make a fenderbender a terrible nightmare when it comes to getting insurance to pay for it.

I have seen one of those Ford F-150s running around with those bulges with stock tires! It looks REALLY REALLY UGLY! It looks like a big frog! Ribbit!

This truck gives me a major Chubbie.

You need to understand this is set up to be put on a tube frame suport like a stock car has.
The gains are a major loss of 250lb of sheetmetal Quick access to the engine from all sides. I don't know about you but I sure wouldn't mind sitting on the front tire to change plugs. Sure beats hanging upside down into the engine compartment trying to ballance on the core suport to change plugs.

I'll build something like that one day with a LS1 power plant.
If you want to read what these 2wd trucks are all about read this.
Here is a teaser from that story.
Quote:
While we weren't able to do a whole lot of off-roading in the middle of Anaheim, Kreg did take me out in the Blazer for a little prerunning through the urban landscape. Cruising along at 30 mph, he'd hop 10 in. curbs as if they were mere cracks in the street, jump loading docks at 60 MPH, and hit 2+ foot piles of solid refuse with the same effect of a normal truck crossing over a speed bump. "It's basically a Trophy Truck with an air conditioner," said Kreg, "It's really not that far off."
Here is the full story

Sounds like a good idea. With the LS1 in my car the way it's smashed under the cowl it takes 3hrs to change the plugs. #6 & #8 take most of that time.

There is something cool about that truck, but the hood looks like an afterthought.

Nice truck, but he needs either a wider diff out back or wider rims...I can't stand the fact that our trucks have a narrower back end.

The way I see it, GM did great with what they had at the time. It just makes sense that some people want to update their old truck with newer styling and comforts. They would rather put the money in their faithful friend by a face lift instead of buying something new and unfamiliar.

It's like my wife. I'd much rather buy her new boobs instead of finding a newer, larger breasted woman with fewer miles. It would take forever to learn the quirks and tricks of a newer model. I don't want to go through that learning period ever again.
