red vinyl trim???
I was up in baltimore this weekend at a few salvage yards hunting and found this 69 gmc with red vinyl trim. How common was this option, i had never seen it before. I did a search and found a few others but not many.

Re: red vinyl trim???
GM had suggested color combos, but the ultimate option was up to the person who ordered the vehicles. If they were ordering vehicles to supply the lot, and their "floor plan" was paying for it, then the color combos had to be appealing to the masses. Regional preferences come into effect, and they did then, too. Fads exist in paint colors; they did then and they still do today. GM is one company that pays a lot of money for people to tell them what colors are going to be "hot" 2 years from now.
It may be that whereever you have lived, red interiors weren't the best seller. But, the best-selling paint colors include black, white, red and (now) silver. Any one of those paints would look good with a red interior. I'm changing my interior to red, from black. The exterior will be black, and the black/red combo will look good.

Re: red vinyl trim???
that is a very uncommon color for the inside, and I have NEVER seen the insterment panel in that shade. GMC had the insterment panels color matched to the glove box door which was either the same color as the vinyl, or an accent color to it.

Re: red vinyl trim???
But, didn't the exterior color dictate the interior paint color? I get what you said about the combo in the interior. If the glovebox door was white, it wouldn't be a big deal. For it to be red, is one-off.

Re: red vinyl trim???
Black or white body color with red interior looks real sharp IMO.

The glove box door was seldom... hardly ever body color on a GMC.
