How can you mask them off so it will look good?

I'd start with that finelines tape, it is easier to conform than masking tape. Then run around the fineline stuff with regular tape.

Re: WTB 3/4 ton 69-72 stainless hubcaps

I take mine and get a small roll of Masking tape and I tear small pieces for the squared areas and I run the longer pieces around the circle areas. Then I tape off the exposed area on the outside that I don’t want painted. I then take longer pieces and tape around the round part in the middle. Finally I lay tape all the way across the top and after covering it I use a soft pointed object to make sure the tape edges the bow tie and the design outer ring as close as possible then I use a razor blade and cut slowly exposing only the area that needs to be painted black. I then paint all the black with a flat or satin black, doing two to three coats. Finally, I go to the local hobby store and buy the TESTERS regular Blue model paint and I do up the bow tie. Last I put it out in the sun and heat to allow it to dry and toughen up. It takes me about ten minutes to tape a cap off for painting. Also, like the other guy stated you can use real thin outline tape to help out too. Good luck!!!

Re: WTB 3/4 ton 69-72 stainless hubcaps

Here are some caps I have done up.
First picture you can see the set of original white steel caps restored, they came out good in the picture.
Pic two the first two caps, silver and white and at the end the two GMC caps came out really nice. That white cap was in bad shape when I got it from TEEITUP. It had a hole in it and was bashed in bad. It is a nice daily driver now. The miscolored caps in the picture are test subjects in different colors. I will put them back original eventually.
Enjoy, it is my hobby to restore these things, I enjoy it.

Thanks. I'll give that a try.
