body swap question
Hi Guys, i have a 69 gmc, all factory, manual everything & 4 wheel drum brakes but have been offered a 1994 gmc 1/2 ton, has anybody heard of anyone swapping a 69 body onto a new style frame, and if so what issues would i run into mount wise, any thoughts would help,of course the guy the owns the 1994 says its a an easy swap, other thoughts are to just order porter built products & keep the 69 frame

Re: body swap question
I've seen a couple guys doing it on here but dnt know what all it involves. Im sure more work than its worth. But it depends on what you want. If your looking for a a newer drive train. Than i would just swap engine and tranny. Your not really gaining anything by trying to mount your whole body.on the 94. That's just my opinion. Good luck either way

Re: body swap question
Yeah that's for sure the first thing u need to find out. "What do i want to do.with this truck" figure that out and it will make life alot easier But i personally wouldn't swap ur body onto 94. Just cuz i dnt see any benefits in it. You still basicaly have.the same rear end and front end. The engine and tranny if im not mistaking is just an old 350 with a throttle body on top of it. I dnt believe the started making the vortecs until later. But im not 100% so if someone can correct me feel free
good luck either way Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: body swap question
i would swap the running gear, tbi is pretty easy or run a carb they have kits to adapt the 94 rearend to ur frame i would order new front end stuff. u can put the 69 on the 94 frame but u may need some fab skills with body mounts, firewall issues, ive put em on 1973-1987 frames but not the newer ones, anything can be done with the right skills and dough

Re: body swap question
hi guys thanks for your input, budget is of course an issue, i grabbed the 94 for the power train for my chevelle and got to talking with some of the guys around the garage & all sorts of ideas were thrown @ me, basically i have never had a truck with 4 wheel drum, & it had been suggested that i change it out to a more modern setup

Re: body swap question
i do it all the time wicky u have a nice ride brother, firethorn all aside if i was u i would get a 1973-1987 half ton frame put ur running gear and ur body on ,so u have disc up front 5 lug all the way around its easy to swap bodys to and there plentyful, and lowering kits or lift kits are cheap. put ur 94 running gear on the 73-87 frame while u still drive the 69 until u swap bodys then sell ur 94 and 69 frame to cover a little cost.
