need some wisdom, shes not running right.

I have got some problems. My daily driver is giving me some fits. I pulled the w/c belt off the pump to try to gain some h.p. and no she seems to run crappy when I get on her above 3ooo rpm. It's almost like its a lake of fuel. Ive never had this problem before, and just recently I installed a carb slavery. Would this be causing a lack of power?
Thanks for any help! Tony.

What's a w/c belt?

And a carb slavery?

What carb do you have? Is it vacuum secondary.

My guess is a typo w instead of a on the keyboard. No idea about the slavery thing. Maybe adjust your timing.

Re: need some wisdom, shes not running right.

Lake=lack

If he pulled the water pump belt, its probably detonating due to the lack of cooling the combustion chambers. Heat will build up there ungodly fast. Don't worry though, if he does this too much longer, his problem will become extreemly obvious, then he can replace the engine.

Does slavery=spacer?

He probably means A\C belt. The A is close to W on keyboard, and he was using a cell phone.

Check timing, read plugs to see if Air fuel ratio is correct. Also look for vacume leaks. Pulling an A\C belt shouldn't cause engine problems.

Wasn't going to say anything but since you brought it up I noticed you have an interesting way to spell "extreemly"........and you weren't even using a cell.

My translation from the predictive text nonsense (he posted from a mobile device and I have the same problem with my HTC, its turns even the simplest message into gibberish sometime) Lake is lack, w/c should be A/C god alone knows what a slavery is but I guarantee its nothing like the word he typed.

Re: need some wisdom, shes not running right.

Anyway, despite the obvious typos,I still seemed to gather what his problem was and gave my guess to what the problem was. Before the poor feller runs off from the criticism, does anyone else have a suggestion for him? If you have vacuum secondaries, such as with the Quadrajet that comes on these trucks, you may simply have a vacuum leak. Check that white canister on the passenger side of the carb to see if it's broken.

Re: need some wisdom, shes not running right.

Sorry for the confusion. I did post from my HTC phone. It's nice being able to wrench around a lil bit in the garage and have the internet as close to you as a wrench! soooo, I have the goodwrench Crate 350 with edelbrock carb. I had a carb spacer and removed it. Now its not running like it used to 6 months ago before the spacer at higher rpms. I haves adjusted the timming, jetting, and I went ahead and left the water pump belt on for now.
Sorry about the late response, ts been busy at work. And now I have some time to play around. Thanks for the replies!

First off how tall and what type of spacer are we talking about (4hole or open)? 4 hole spacers can lower the power band slightly ....open spacers can raise it slightly. Spacer tuning is a hit or miss experience..... some motors may show a small gain with a taller spacer, and some may lose a little horsepower , some do nothing.

If your motor is running that much worse I highly doubt it's just the spacer.
When you say "now its not running like it used to 6 months ago"....did you also change something else at or around the same time, or was it just the spacer ?

Re: need some wisdom, shes not running right.

Just the spacer. And its a 4 hole. One inch tall. She ran great before the a/c and when the a/c was installed it seemed like it would run a little lean with the a/c belt on. Then I put on the spacer and it brought her back to life. Now I have removed both the spacer and the a/c belt and now have my problem.
