New grill for my 77
Picked up this grill at a local swap meet today. I want to replace the tube grill on my 77 and have always liked the mid 70's grills. Its in good shape, no cracks but needs a little paint. The hump is supposedly from a 74 pick up but i think it looks more like its from a blazer since its so short. What do you guys think?

You can't beat ten bucks. Eventually I'll put that grille on my '78.

Re: New grill for my 77
i love those grills too have one for chevy and one for gmc. i dont know if its been brought to your attention or not and im not trying to nay say just a heads up- looks to me to be a 73-74 grill. and so youre aware itll take some extra parts and a little extra work to get it to fit. it wont just bolt in. youll need to remove or modify the bolted in supports that sit about 1/4 of the way in on both sides or the core suppot, also youll need a different hood release and ceneter support, and youll have to drill a hole in a factory dimple on both sides of the core support and find the proper bolt-in grill supports. its really not as complicated as i just made it sound, there are threads on it here.

Re: New grill for my 77
Thanks for the heads up on this. your 100% right, I searched and have what I believe is the correct outers on a different core support, but I do not have the release. I have a couple spares so i think I will try to modify one.

Of course I got it at Jefferson! HAHA I seem to pick up something everything time I go that I didnt know that I needed. Thanks for posting the link, I will figure something out. 80's trucks are getting hard to find in the boneyards let alone early 70's trucks.

Re: New grill for my 77
I've got a full extra set of brackets but their spoken for. What I do have extra and not spoken for tho is a center support with out latch. Its bent but I'm 95% sure it can be straightened out and pretty easily. If you're ever in the Janesville area get ahold of me you. Can have it if you pick it up and i still have it. Pm if ur interested and ill get you my number

Re: New grill for my 77
Looks good on these trucks! They're a lot nicer than those tube grilles IMO
I put one on my truck the other day. Shame it's got a few broken parts, but ya cant beat free

Re: New grill for my 77
There is a really good thread on here that describes all you will need to change to the 73-74 grilles. I know you have to change the top core support and the hood release bar that runs behind the grill. You cannot use the later inside hood latch parts with this grille.
